Job Description
The Room Leader will take a lead role in promoting the Aims & Objectives of the service and ensuring the provision of secure, quality childcare for children in our care.
Roles and Responsibilities
The Room Leader will support management with the supervision and support of the team to deliver a quality childcare service. The successful candidate will be professional leading the team by example in the planning and delivery of engaging activities for children and in the development of positive relationships with stakeholders such as colleagues, parents, children and funders.
The room leader will hold the following qualifications, competencies and skills.
The successful candidate must have
1. Level 6 or higher FETAC/QQI major award in Early Childhood Education, level 7 or 8 preferred and proven leadership experience in an early years setting to include administration/documenting the curriculum, communication with stakeholders, team meetings, motivating and developing the team.
2. Professional, reliable, competent and prepared to work flexibly in all areas of the service and undertake the role of safety officer and fire officer if required.
3. Must have a positive work ethic and the ability to lead and develop a team in a positive co-operative way, imparting knowledge and skills and learning from others contributing to team development.
4. Experienced and comfortable working with Microsoft office, word, excel, outlook with a commitment to further training and development.
5. Understanding of Health and Safety regulatory requirements and the ability to communicate relevant policies and procedures to stakeholders such as parents, children, staff and external agencies to ensure best practice.
6. Understanding of preschool regulations, Siolta and the Aistear curriculum and the QRF; with the ability to plan, organise and participate in activities which will engage children of all ages and work effectively to ensure smooth transitions.
7. Excellent communication skills including written and verbal English as communications and records keeping are essential. Ability to work professionally and effectively with staff, parents and people from a range of backgrounds with tact, sensitivity and confidentiality.
8. Applicants must supply two suitable written references if selected for interview.
9. Must be in a position to submit their details for Garda Vetting if required. International vetting/police clearance is also required if a candidate has lived outside Ireland for 6 months or more.
