A leading international engineering consultancy is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join its expanding Dublin team. This is a senior leadership role focused on delivering technically complex projects, driving innovation in mechanical design, and mentoring high-performing engineering teams.You will take ownership of mechanical design delivery across major projects, acting as a key client interface while ensuring best-in-class engineering standards.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESLead mechanical design delivery from concept through to completion across multiple sectorsAct as technical authority across HVAC, public health, and energy systemsManage and mentor multidisciplinary engineering teamsOversee design quality, compliance, and technical standardsEngage directly with clients, stakeholders, and project partnersManage project budgets, programmes, and resource allocationSupport business development, including bids and tendersDrive sustainable and energy-efficient design solutionsKEY PROJECTSYou will play a key role in delivering a range of high-profile developments, including:Large-scale data centre campus – cooling strategy, HVAC systems, and energy optimisation for mission-critical environmentsMajor commercial office development – low-carbon, high-performance mechanical design aligned with sustainability targetsPharmaceutical / life sciences facility – complex HVAC and cleanroom design with strict regulatory complianceEXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONSDegree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline8–12+ years’ experience within building services / data centre / life sciences / commercial sectorsProven experience operating at Senior or Principal Engineer levelStrong background in HVAC, heating/cooling systems, and public health designExperience delivering projects across the full design lifecycleChartership (or working towards) highly desirableExperience with relevant design and modelling tools (e.g., IES, Hevacomp, Revit/BIM)SKILLS & ATTRIBUTESStrong leadership and people management skillsExcellent client-facing and communication abilityCommercial awareness and delivery focusAbility to manage multiple large-scale projects simultaneouslyHigh level of technical expertise and attention to detailStrong problem-solving and decision-making capabilitySALARY & BENEFITSPerformance-related bonusPension contributionHybrid and flexible workingGenerous annual leave with service increasesProfessional development and chartership supportOpportunity to work on landmark, high-impact projectsIf you are a building services design engineer please send your CV to g.birch@gpcireland.com or call 086 084 2014.
