About the Role:
We are currently seeking an experienced and strategic Financial Controller to join our team.
This is a key leadership role that will oversee all aspects of financial management, including reporting, budgeting, compliance, and process improvement.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong technical accounting background, sound commercial acumen, and the ability to lead and support a small finance team in a fast-paced, growing environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing day-to-day finance operations, including accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and banking
Preparing monthly management accounts, financial statements, and performance reports
Leading the budgeting and forecasting process, with regular variance analysis
Managing cash flow, working capital, and treasury functions
Ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements, including VAT and tax filings
Coordinating external audits and liaising with auditors, tax advisors, and banks
Reviewing and improving financial processes, systems, and internal controls
Providing financial insight and support to senior management for strategic decisions
Supporting and mentoring junior finance staff
Key Requirements:
Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
Minimum 5 years' experience in a senior finance role, ideally within an SME or similar environment
Strong understanding of financial and management accounting principles
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (essential); experience with accounting software (Netsuite)
High level of accuracy and attention to detail
Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
Commercially minded, with a hands-on approach and willingness to get involved in the detail
