Plant Operations InstructorLocation:Flexible within Ireland (occasional travel required)Working Model:Hybrid / Smart WorkingReports to:Generation & Trading Technical Capability Delivery ManagerAbout the RoleWe are seeking a skilled Plant Operations Instructor to join our GT Power Academy team. In this role, you will design, deliver, and maintain training programs that support the development of plant operators across ESB's Generation business. This includes classroom-based instruction and onsite training focused on power plant systems, machinery, and operational processesYou will train operators on conventional thermal assets and combustion turbine technologies while following an externally accredited training program.Key ResponsibilitiesDevelop and update training materials for systems including steam turbines, gas turbines, grid-connected generators, and heavy rotating plant.Deliver operator training for large thermal plants, CCGTs, OCGTs, and steam turbine operations in both classroom and onsite settings.Conduct theory assessments, practical evaluations, and student assignment reviews.Work with the training scheduler to support annual training plans and ensure effective delivery.Provide tailored improvement plans for students where required.Deliver training on core plant systems such as water‑steam cycles, air/flue/gas systems, and drive trains, as well as subsystems including lube oil, CCW, fuel handling, and gland steam.Collaborate with internal teams to gather technical content and stay updated on new developments.Support the broader Technical Training Team with additional duties as needed.Experience & QualificationsEssentialThird‑level qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering, or an electrical/instrumentation apprenticeship with relevant industry experience.5+ years' experience in power plant systems or operations.Ability to read and interpret technical documentation (manuals, P&IDs, drawings).Proficiency in Microsoft applications and IT systems.Strong communication and presentation abilities.Full Category B driving licence.DesirableExperience with large thermal plants, hydro units, steam turbines, combustion turbines, or aero-derivative technologies.Familiarity with systems such as Alstom GT26/24, Siemens V94.2, Siemens A65 DLE, GE Frame GTs, or equivalent offshore/maritime/nuclear systems.Prior experience delivering technical training.
