We are a globally successful SaaS company, serving a diverse international customer base with teams ranging in size from 20 to 20,000 end users.
Overview
We're looking for an experienced Senior IT & Security Operations Engineer to join the team and help mature how we run corporate IT, security operations and compliance support at Scorebuddy. This is a hands‑on senior role with real scope to automate routine work, tighten processes and raise the bar on consistency, documentation and security.
You'll support the Information Security Lead and the CTO in raising internal IT and security maturity while keeping everyday IT reliable, secure and scalable for a Dublin-based hybrid workforce of more than 70 people, and work in close partnership with Engineering, Platform, Product and the wider business.
The toolset is SaaS‑first: Microsoft 365 with Entra ID and Intune, AWS for the product stack with IAM in front of it, and Vanta as the compliance and trust platform. AI tooling is actively used across the organisation and this role is expected to do the same. The scope covers identity, endpoints, SaaS administration and security tooling, with automation and good change management keeping routine work consistent, documented and auditable.
The role has meaningful scope to shape how Scorebuddy operates as we scale: automating routine processes, strengthening security controls and endpoint hardening, improving network and connectivity provision, and supporting our ISO 27001, SOC 2, ISO 42001 and GDPR evidence and remediation work.
What You’ll Do
Corporate IT operations: Own corporate IT day to day across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint management and SaaS platforms, providing hands‑on frontline support to staff as the primary point of contact for IT issues across a hybrid workforce.
Onboarding and lifecycle: Support onboarding, offboarding, access changes, device management, patching and asset lifecycle, and replace manual steps with processes that are consistent, documented and auditable.
Automation and process improvement: Identify repetitive or manual IT and security tasks and automate them using PowerShell, Bash, Python, APIs, Git, AI tooling or similar, and take internal improvement projects from planning through to implementation, testing and handover.
Documentation and knowledge: Create and maintain technical documentation, runbooks and knowledge base content so IT and security work is repeatable and not dependent on any one person.
Networking and connectivity: Own networking and connectivity improvements across the estate, including secure remote access for a hybrid workforce.
Security operations: Help strengthen our security posture across endpoints, identity, SaaS and internal systems, including security monitoring, alert investigation, incident response, vulnerability management and endpoint hardening.
Security tooling: Help implement and tune controls across Microsoft 365, Defender, Intune, Entra ID and AWS IAM, investigate issues to root cause and recommend practical fixes that prevent recurrence.
Compliance support: Support the Information Security Lead with ISO 27001, SOC 2, ISO 42001 and GDPR activities, working in Vanta to maintain controls, gather evidence, investigate failing controls and support remediation and audit preparation.
Cross‑functional collaboration: Work with Engineering, Platform, Product, Commercial, Finance and HR, explain risks and fixes clearly to technical and non‑technical staff, and suggest improvements proactively rather than waiting for issues to be assigned.
What We Are Looking For
8+ years’ experience in IT, systems administration, security operations, corporate IT or infrastructure.
Strong hands‑on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, endpoint management, SaaS administration and Windows endpoint support.
Experience owning IT support end to end, diagnosing complex problems and implementing long‑term fixes rather than one‑off workarounds.
Practical experience improving IT operations through automation, scripting, documentation and process design.
Experience with scripting or automation tools such as PowerShell, Bash, Python, APIs, comfort using Git or another source control system, and an appetite for using AI tooling to work more efficiently.
Good understanding of identity and access management and Zero Trust principles in an Entra ID environment, including conditional access, least privilege, MFA, user lifecycle and access reviews.
Good understanding of endpoint security, patching, hardening, vulnerability management, EDR/XDR, logging and incident response.
Working knowledge of networking fundamentals: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing, firewalls, VPNs and connectivity troubleshooting.
Experience with public cloud, preferably AWS, from an operational, security, IAM or governance perspective.
Awareness of compliance frameworks such as ISO 27001, SOC 2 or GDPR.
Ability to work independently, prioritise and take ownership through to completion, with strong written and verbal communication for technical and non‑technical audiences.
Nice To Have
Experience supporting ISO 27001, SOC 2, ISO 42001, HIPAA, NIS2 or similar compliance programmes, and working with GRC tools such as Vanta.
Experience with Microsoft Defender, Defender for Endpoint, Defender XDR or Microsoft Purview.
Experience with AWS IAM, AWS security services, cloud logging or cloud governance.
Experience administering or supporting Linux endpoints or servers.
Experience with infrastructure‑as‑code or configuration management tooling such as Terraform or Ansible.
Experience adopting AI tooling to improve IT or security operations.
Experience improving onboarding, offboarding, access review, device management or software deployment processes.
Experience building dashboards, reports, scripts or integrations to improve operational visibility.
Experience in a SaaS company, regulated environment or customer‑facing security assurance process.
Education & Qualifications
A degree in Computer Science, Information Security, IT or a related discipline is welcome but not required, and equivalent practical experience is valued.
Relevant certifications such as Microsoft, AWS, CompTIA, ITIL, ISO 27001, CISM or CISSP are beneficial but not mandatory.
