Senior Engineer
We are collaborating with a leading contractor to recruit an experienced Skipper Senior Construction Engineer for a major pharmaceutical project in Roscommon. Key Responsibilities:
* Evaluate designs during each stage of construction for buildability, documenting any issues encountered.
* Regularly review identified issues with the Project Manager to ensure timely resolution.
* Ensure adequate engineering and technical resources are available to meet project demands.
* Provide leadership and mentorship to the engineering team, addressing training needs as required.
* Collaborate with design teams to ensure all necessary construction information is provided.
* Manage and update the RFI schedule, ensuring responses are timely to avoid delays.
* Stay informed of the project's programme (design, procurement, lead-in, and construction).
* Identify opportunities to challenge designs for potential commercial advantages.
* Oversee accurate primary control and setting-out activities performed by the site engineering team.
* Implement a thorough checking system to ensure precision in all setting-out tasks.
* Partner with site management to enforce safe working practices.
* Ensure high-risk activities are supported by comprehensive method statements.
* Ensure site engineers receive necessary design information promptly to prevent project delays.
* Maintain an NCR register and provide weekly updates to the project and commercial teams.
* Manage the snagging programme, ensuring subcontractors resolve snags efficiently to meet the handover schedule.
* Compile and share lessons learned throughout the project with the Contracts/Project Manager to enhance future project execution.
* Assist in the close-out of subcontractor accounts related to assigned areas of the project.
* Support and guide site engineers in setting-out techniques to foster skill development and career growth.
* Relevant degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
* Proven ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
* Capability to manage multiple tasks to a high standard within strict deadlines.
* Minimum of 8 years' experience with a Main Contractor in Ireland or the UK, ideally in pharmaceutical or other high-standards sectors.
