Amazon Search services are always at work whenever a customer visits and types in a query or browses through product categories. Our Human Labeled Data organization helps Search services deliver high-quality data annotation to improve AI/ML models driving these services.
We aim to create business value by providing high-quality data at scale, using easy and scalable labeling solutions that are cost-efficient and secure. This enables us to improve the search experience for our customers by accurately determining labels for products targeted by search queries.
Key Responsibilities
As a Lead Data Specialist, ML Data Ops, you will be responsible for meeting operational and business goals while overseeing a team of 30-40 associates with expertise in one or more processes/functions and proficient in English.
* You will drive initiatives across sites for process improvements, formulate Standard Operating Procedures (SoP) and guidelines, and provide data insights as required.
* You will actively seek to understand Amazon's core business values and initiatives, translating them into everyday practices.
Main Objectives
Your key result areas include:
1. Managing process and operational escalations effectively.
2. Driving data-oriented analysis and adoption of technology solutions to achieve operational and business goals.
3. Communicating with stakeholders across multiple lines of business on operational milestones, process changes, and escalations.
4. Identifying gaps in process areas and working with stakeholders to resolve them.
5. Being a subject matter expert (SME) for the process and a referral point for peers and junior team members.
6. Driving business/operational metrics through quantitative decision-making and adopting different tools and resources.
7. Meeting deadlines in a fast-paced work environment driven by complex software systems and processes.
8. Performing deep dives in the process and coming up with process improvement solutions through automation.
9. Collaborating effectively with other teams and subject matter experts (SMEs), Language Engineers (LaEs) to support launches of new processes and services.
Requirements
To be successful in this role, you should have:
* A Bachelor's Degree and relevant experience of 2+ years as a subject matter expert or similar.
* Intermediate knowledge and hands-on experience with MS Excel.
* Excellent communication (written & oral) skills with the ability to curate responses for Large Language Model (LLM) development.
* Experience in analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, dynamic work environment.
* Willingness to support several projects at once and adapt to re-prioritization as necessary.
* Demonstrated leadership with a bias towards action and ownership, along with strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Artificial Intelligence interaction, such as prompt generation and open AI's is desirable.
