Overview
Amazon Web Services (AWS) provides storage, compute and other solutions to customers, globally. Our customers trust us to protect their data with security practices to mitigate risk. The Data Center (DC) Security Team provides physical security solutions to protect AWS personnel, AWS facilities and customer information. The Security Support Specialist will drive operational security excellence within Data Centers, working with partner teams and leaders. The ideal candidate will manage communications, assist with electronic surveillance and access control requests, and help Data Centre Security Managers streamline efficiency. The role includes writing and implementing security processes and procedures, extracting metrics, and observing improvements through data analysis. A proven track record of customer service, excellent verbal and written communication, and good judgment and critical thinking are required.
An ideal candidate will be able to work at all levels from theoretical physical security principles to practical application and real-world implementation of processes. You should have a record of accomplishment in operations room/centre dispatching, data centre security operations, physical security, and customer service, with the ability to multi-task.
Responsibilities
* Coordinate day-to-day activities and site security operations
* Coordinate with operations teams across business units
* Provide guidance and leadership across team programs
* Build partnerships through networking and innovation
* Extract metrics and seek improvements by analyzing data and trends to influence positive change
* Verify Data Center security programs are delivered to meet defined global security standards
* Assist in media integrity related programs and in the training of personnel on security policies and procedures
* Handle escalations and resolve tasks delegated to the team
* Draft reports and prepare presentations on the status of physical security operations
* Collaborate with managers to write and implement security policies, processes and procedures based on regional or global security initiatives
* Serve as a customer advocate by identifying security-related opportunities and crafting innovative solutions
* Participate in site audits and inspections
Qualifications
* Basic qualifications: 1 to 5 years experience in operations room/centre; exposure to physical security operations
* Preferred qualifications: 2+ years in operations, physical security or equivalent environment; 2+ years of data collection, analysis and utilization; basic knowledge of physical security systems including access control, intrusion detection and video surveillance
