Head of Checkout Operations
The Head of Checkout Operations will be responsible for overseeing the checkout department in a busy supermarket environment. This entails leading a team of staff, managing rosters, supervising queue operations, and ensuring high standards of customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
* Overall management of the checkout department and its daily operations.
* Leading a team of 8-10 staff on duty and fostering effective working relationships.
* Developing and implementing rosters for a team of approximately 25, including supervisory staff, to ensure seamless operations.
* Queue management and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.
* Covering tills during peak periods and supporting the customer service desk as required.
Additional duties may include adherence to relevant legislation, conducting staff training and development sessions, mentoring employees, and providing support to the store manager in other areas.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 2 years' experience in managing a busy checkout team within a retail grocery setting is essential.
* Proficiency in operating till/cash register systems is required.
* Strong leadership and people management skills are crucial for success in this role.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and multi-tasking skills are necessary to deliver exceptional results.
* The ability to remain calm under pressure and provide outstanding customer service is vital.
