Overview
The Clarecare Day-care centre in Cuan an Chlair Ennis is looking for volunteers to help with social engagement and inclusion of older people. Cuan An Chláir daycentre operates Monday to Friday from 10am – 3pm on the grounds of Cahercalla. This is an opportunity for older people to meet, socialise and participate in activities as well as availing of various services.
They are currently looking for a volunteer on a Thursday morning from 11.30am to 1.30pm with an interest and knowledge of Arts & Crafts to carry out a project over the course of a 6 to 8 week period. The volunteer would need to have an Art background that can offer an engaging Arts & Craft session. The volunteer will agree the project with the volunteer coordinator and will be fully supported at all times. Materials will be supplied by the organisation. The types of projects of interest include paper craft, painting, making cards and decorations, knitting, sewing, decoupage, flower arranging, felting, crochet, pottery, collages and drawing.
Please note: All volunteers interested in a role with Cuan An Chlair must adhere to the covid guidelines and wear a mask as well as undergoing their manual handling and children's first training as outlined by the HSE. The Clarecare Over 65\'s club in Cuan an Chlair Ennis are looking for a volunteer with a love of music to work with a group of lively older people who love music. They would love to get a musician or a DJ that would have a selection of songs to sing or dance along to. This role would suit a guitarist, singer, keyboard player/singer or a DJ with a variety of songs/music to entertain the elderly, while encouraging participation, singing and dancing.
This project will run for 4 - 6 weeks on a Thursday morning from 11.30am to 1pm and the volunteer will be supported at all times by the Daycare Centre staff. Other volunteering opportunities
The Health & Wellness Centre at Carrigoran are currently looking for volunteers to assist the Activities Co-ordinator for 2 hours a week with the various activities. This group is full of fun with plenty of chat along with many cups of tea. The activities include Baking, Bingo, Crosswords, Exercise and music. Time commitment is Thursday from 1pm to 3.30pm. Volunteers will be supported by the activities co-ordinator and may receive relevant training and access to events. Volunteers must be physically able to push a wheelchair to assist residents.
