Job Brief – Automation Engineer (Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC)
Location: Ireland (Life Sciences Sector)
We are seeking an experienced Automation Engineer with expertise in Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC systems to support projects within the Life Sciences industry. The successful candidate will also bring strong knowledge of SCADA, HMI systems, and IT/OT networks, ensuring reliable integration between plant-floor control systems and enterprise systems in a regulated GMP environment.
Responsibilities
Design, configure, and troubleshoot Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems (e.g., FactoryTalk View, RSView, or similar).
Support commissioning, qualification, and validation of automation systems in compliance with GMP and GAMP5 standards.
Manage and optimize IT/OT network connectivity, ensuring secure and reliable data flow between control systems and business systems.
Collaborate with process, quality, and engineering teams to deliver compliant and efficient automation solutions.
Maintain accurate system documentation and participate in audits, deviations, and change control processes.
Provide on-site and remote technical support for automation, SCADA, and network-related issues.
Qualifications
Degree in Automation, Electrical, Control, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience).
Proven experience with Rockwell / Allen-Bradley PLC platforms (ControlLogix, CompactLogix, FactoryTalk, etc.).
Hands-on expertise with SCADA and HMI systems in a manufacturing environment.
Strong understanding of IT/OT networking, industrial communications (EtherNet/IP, OPC, etc.), and cybersecurity principles.
Previous automation experience in a Life Sciences / Pharmaceutical / Biopharma setting.
Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
