Design Engineer - TransportationRoughan & O’Donovan (ROD) is looking to recruit a design engineer with at least four years’ relevant experience for a permanent position within our transportation teamJob type: PermanentLocation: Santry, Dublin 17, IrelandSalary: CompetitiveAbout the roleYou will join a highly skilled, multidisciplinary team who have successfully delivered transportation projects for upgraded rail lines, light railways, motorways, public transport facilities, rural roads, cycleway and pedestrian schemes across Ireland and the UK.Our team has the experience and skills to cover the full life cycle of transport assets – from initial investigations and modelling, through construction management, to the maintenance of transport networks.Current and recent projects include:Clontarf to City Centre ProjectBusConnectsDublinenhancing Motorway Operations ServicesHerring Bridge, Great Yarmouth, UKWest Clare Railway GreenwayRenfrew Bridge, Renfrewshire, ScotlandDART+ WestEssentialA bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (Level 8 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)At least four years’ post-qualification experience in the design or construction of civil engineering projectsGood knowledge of Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) Publications and the National Highways Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB)Good knowledge of the Design Manual for Urban Roads and Streets (DMURS); the Traffic Signs Manual; the Cycle Design Manual; and the Traffic Management Guidelines ManualGood knowledge of construction procurementBasic knowledge of the planning application processExperience in preparing reportsExperience in implementing quality procedures and recordsProficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook)Working knowledge of BIM (Building Information Modelling)Fluency/high level of proficiency in spoken and written EnglishAbility to work in a team environmentMotivated individual with a strong work ethicDesirableA master’s degree in civil engineering (Level 9 in the National Framework of Qualifications or equivalent)Chartered membership of a recognised professional body in the engineering sectorCompetency in AutoCADCompetency in the use of 3D modelling software, such as Civil 3D, OpenRoads and MXExperience in drainage designExperience in pavement designCompetency in the use of traffic modelling software packages, such as Paramics, LinSig and JunctionsAbout Roughan & O'DonovanRoughan and O’Donovan (ROD) is a leading civil, environmental and structural engineering consultancy.
