Job Title: Senior Construction Cost Manager
Our client is looking to recruit a new Senior Construction Cost Manager for their expanding team. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the surveying function of allocated projects, reporting to the Senior Project Cost Manager and Commercial Manager.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Strong computer skills, including proficiency in cost control software;
* Excellent interpersonal, written, and spoken communication skills;
* A proven track record of managing multiple tasks and prioritizing deadlines using initiative;
* The ability to take a professional, organized, and positive approach to problem-solving;
* Ability to work as part of a team;
* Professional qualification in quantity surveying or a related field;
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
* Review and approve contract documents, providing support to the financial controller and directors as needed;
* Prepare cost reports for clients, with contractually compliant supporting documentation if required;
* Develop and manage subcontract and material procurement schedules;
* Administer subcontractor/supplier accounts, monitoring and authorizing payments through final accounts;
* Maintain up-to-date cost reports and forecasts for projects;
* Negotiate and agree change events, extension of time claims, and final accounts;
* Maintain project margins, improve plans, and review processes;
* Manage and forecast cash flow for projects;
* Ensure compliance with contract schedules;
* Develop and maintain relationships with clients to support activities and maintain positive relations on behalf of the company;
* Be proactive in commercial control of projects, keeping commercial performance under review from start to finish;
* Ensure all projects are driven to provide best value solutions and delivered on time and within budgets;
* Track and monitor preliminary costs;
* Attend project meetings and provide commercial and cost advice as required.
