Objective of this post:

The objective of the post is to coordinate and oversee all aspects of the RCSI undergraduate teaching programme at University Hospital Waterford and to contribute to the development of new teaching programmes, methodologies and assessments.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

* Providing leadership in the coordination and delivery of medical clinical teaching and assessment of Year 3 RCSI students at UHW

* Providing guidance and fostering communication and student commitment including attendance

* Providing group feedback

* Liaising with the Year 3 Directors and Heads of Department regarding teaching and assessment.

* Attending regular meetings of the RCSI/Hospital Liaison Committee in conjunction with the Undergraduate Dean.

* Liaising with the hospital departments and staff to enable the delivery of the programme at UHW

* Co-ordinating the team of medical consultants and tutors who deliver educational services for RCSI at UHW

* Contributing to the development of the curriculum

* Complying with statutory legislation, rules, and requirements in furtherance of your own and general staff welfare and safety.

* Undergoing programmes of training and development as may be required from time to time.

* Representing the best interests of RCSI at all times.

Person Specification

Applicants must be of consultant physician status, with a contractual commitment of at least 20 hours to University Hospital Waterford.

In addition applicants will possess:

* a comprehensive knowledge of current issues in medical education

* excellent managerial skills

* the drive and initiative to promote change in a challenging and dynamic environment

* a history of achieving results with the ability to act decisively and meet deadlines

* excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to:

§ collaborate, communicate, motivate and delegate

§ identify and cultivate talent

§ inspire action from others

§ align people behind the corporate vision

§ build effective teams

Particulars of Post

This post is a part time stipend post. The appointee will report to the Head of Department or nominee.
