Overview of FAST and role in the community -History Background
The Finglas Addiction Support Team (FAST) was originally set up by a group of volunteers from the Finglas community who realised that there were limited services for drug users and family members in the area. The service began in late 2004, and in 2011 we moved to a purpose built building on Wellmount Road, Finglas. During this time the service has grown and developed rapidly. This year we celebrate our 18th anniversary.
The service specifically targets drug and alcohol users at various stages of drug use and recovery – stabilised, drug free and family members affected by drug and alcohol misuse. Our most recent Strategic Plan was launched in April 2022. It is a very detailed road map for our organisation and is available to view here: FAST StrategicPlan 2022-2024. The CEO reports to the Board quarterly on the implementation of the strategic plan.
The board meet every 5-6 weeks in person at FAST offices in Finglas. This is a voluntary role. You may be asked to join a sub committee.
