OverviewA Clinical Nurse Specialist Candidate (General) position in the Headache (Neurology) Department at St. Vincent’s University Hospital, Full Time Permanent, located in Dublin. The role involves clinical oversight and specialty practice in the treatment and management of patients with neurological conditions.Key ResponsibilitiesProvision of quality care in a safe environment using evidence‑based clinical guidelines that address patient expectations, promote wellness, and evaluate care given.Access to Neurology services from the community and Emergency Departments within the Ireland East Healthcare Group (IEHG) region for the delivery of chronic disease management to people with neurological conditions.Provide telephone/virtual, web‑based advice for scheduled and unscheduled evidence‑based care to GPs, AHPs, and patient caseloads attending SVUH.Communicate effectively with the healthcare team through sharing of information in accordance with legal, professional and regulatory requirements.Utilise information technology in accordance with legislation and procedures to record all aspects of specialist nursing care.Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of diagnostic investigations to inform clinical decision‑making in neurology.Display advanced knowledge of therapeutic interventions including pharmacological and non‑pharmacological advanced nursing interventions.Educate others using specialist expert knowledge derived from clinical experience, ongoing reflection, supervision and engagement in continuous professional development.Demonstrate a vision for specialist practice based on a competent expert knowledge base that is developed through participation in audit and research, critical thinking and experiential learning.Display accountability in access and clinical effectiveness when planning, delivering and evaluating patient care.Liaise with learning disability services and schools, Public Health Nurses, school nurses, G.P.s and pharmacists and members of the multidisciplinary team to support the care of the person with neurological conditions in the community.Demonstrate leadership by practicing within agreed specialist practice guidelines to improve quality of life for patients with neurological conditions.Develop leadership in professional practice by utilising professional language (verbally and in writing) within the plan of care, which is shared with the person and other members of the inter‑professional team.Support a culture of quality care.Encourage feedback from persons receiving care, families and staff on their experiences and suggestions for improvement.Influence practice changes using negotiation skills, in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team and persons receiving care.Expand clinical leadership skills by collaborating in the design and evaluation of services.Appraise health policy development, implementation and evaluation.Determine gaps in the provision of care and services pertaining to his/her area of specialist practice and promote the best available evidence.Influence in managing and implementing change.
