Overview
Architect / Designer Wright Quarry Products are a leading manufacturer of concrete products in Ireland. Established over 65 years ago, our product and service offering cater for residential, commercial, civil and agricultural construction projects of all scale across Ireland and Great Britain. We are seeking to recruit an Architect / Designer for our Research and Development team headquartered in Swanns Cross, Rockcorry, Co. Monaghan. The company has invested heavily in the development of new concretes and casting systems as part of a drive towards modular construction. We have a multi-disciplined team working on the exciting development of this new system and are entering the final phases of making the system available to market. This role will be an engaging role as part of the market readiness aspect of the product development.
The individual we are seeking should have completed, or be in the course of completing, a qualification in Construction, Architecture or a related design discipline. An interest in housing design, modular construction and the business aspect of construction will all be advantages. The role is for a limited duration but may be adapted to meet a variety of candidates including graduates, placement students or part-time work. Arrangements can be made to facilitate international placement students.
Work activities & responsibilities
* Develop a suite of sample designs using our new modular system
* Develop specific designs with our modular system to client specifications
* Produce computerised drawings and sketches for use as sales and marketing tools
* Contribute to the development of standard details
* Effective communication amongst clients and colleagues including architects, engineers and project managers
* Provide suitable and practical solutions to meet client expectations
Skills & qualities
* Creative flair in practical design
* Ability to consider practical construction issues in the development of design ideas
* Knowledge of Building Regulations
* Able to work with initiative and project manage a variety of design portfolios simultaneously
* Excellent verbal and written communication & interpersonal skills
