Head of Internal Tax
This is a senior leadership role for a highly experienced and strategically minded tax professional to take ownership of all internal tax compliance requirements for the Irish firm.
The role sits at the heart of our clients finance function, reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), and is responsible for managing tax risk, ensuring compliance across a range of tax heads, and driving efficiency through technology-led processes.
We offer a progressive hybrid working model and this role can be based from either our Dublin or Cork office.
Main Responsibilities:
* Lead all internal tax compliance activities across Employment Taxes & Mobility, VAT, Corporation Tax, and Partnership Tax.
* Ensure the timely and accurate submission of all tax filings to Revenue, maintaining robust internal controls and high reporting standards.
* Act as the principal point of contact for Revenue and other external tax authorities, managing audits and information requests.
* Partner with internal tax, finance, and legal teams to ensure cross-functional alignment on all tax matters.
* Liaise with partners and offices to align strategies, share best practices, and support international compliance requirements.
* Lead initiatives to develop and implement new technologies and automated solutions to enhance tax reporting and reduce risk.
* Proactively identify tax risks and opportunities, advising senior leadership on compliance strategies and policy development.
* Provide internal training and guidance to promote tax awareness across the business.
* Help shape and implement internal tax policy to ensure continued adherence to domestic and global standards.
Requirements:
* A degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
* A professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or CTA is highly desirable.
* Demonstrated leadership capabilities and excellent project management skills.
* 810 years+ experience in tax compliance and advisory, ideally in a Big 4 or large corporate environment.
* In-depth understanding of Irish tax legislation and proven experience managing tax compliance for partnerships or large entities.
* Hands-on knowledge across multiple tax areas: Employment Taxes, VAT, Corporation Tax, and BIK.
* A strategic thinker with strong problem-solving skills and a track record of managing complex tax matters.
* Confident communicator with excellent stakeholder management capabilities, including external regulatory engagement.
* Experience leading teams or major projects in a high-performing environment.
