Irish Blood Transfusion Service (IBTS)

Data Protection Officer
to join our Chief Executive Office at the National Blood Centre.
This is a

donors, patients and staff
while supporting life-saving services across Ireland.
About the role
Reporting directly to the
Chief Executive
, the DPO will:
Act as the
registered Data Protection Officer with the Data Protection Commission
Advise on GDPR compliance across donors, patients, staff & research
Shape privacy-by-design in
new initiatives & transformation projects
Strengthen and mature IBTS's data protection framework
Collaborate nationally & internationally (including the
European Blood Alliance DPO Group
)
This is a
senior, influential role
central to protecting trust in a critical public service .
Essential criteria:
Relevant degree (IT / Information Security / Legal)
Professional certification (e.g.
CIPP/E, CIPM or equivalent
)
5+ years' experience
as a DPO / Data Protection Manager
Expert knowledge of
GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018, Health Research Regulations, EU AI Act
Strong communication, influencing & reporting skills
Healthcare, public sector or regulated environment experience is desirable.
Salary & benefits:
Clerical Officer Grade VIII
€82,258 – €99,213 per annum (incl. LSI)
