Looking for a litter picker for LongFord Retail Park.
The employee is responsible for collecting and removing litter from public areas, such as parks, streets, and walkways, by physically walking around and picking up discarded waste using specialized tools like litter pickers, ensuring the cleanliness and appearance of the community environment; often requiring physical stamina, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while adhering to safety guidelines. Key responsibilities may include:
* Collecting litter: Walking designated areas, picking up trash including plastic bottles, cans, paper, food wrappers, and other debris using a litter picker.
* Sorting waste: Separating recyclable materials from general waste where applicable.
* Maintaining equipment: Cleaning and properly storing litter picking tools.
* Reporting issues: Identifying and reporting areas with significant litter accumulation, potential hazards, or damage to public property
* Interacting with the public: Answering questions from residents and promoting responsible waste disposal practices
* Following safety procedures: Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and adhering to safe lifting techniques
* Small landscaping i.e. removal of weeds from path ways kerbing etc.
Required skills and abilities:
* Physical fitness: Ability to walk long distances, bend, and lift items throughout the workday
* Attention to detail: Observing and collecting even small pieces of litter
* Weather resilience: Working in various weather conditions
* Teamwork: Collaborating with other litter pickers to cover designated areas
* Customer service skills: Engaging with the public in a positive and respectful manner
Work environment:
* Primarily outdoors in public spaces like parks, streets, and sidewalks.
* May involve working in various weather conditions
* Often requires walking long distances
* 2 HRS PER DAY 6 DAYS A WEEK
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: €13.50 per hour
Expected hours: 12 per week
