My client is looking for an experienced Senior Security Engineer to play a key role in enhancing and maintaining a strong security posture across the organisation's IT estate.
The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering core technical security controls, supporting incident response, and contributing to regulatory compliance efforts.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in dynamic environments and is confident advising on and implementing robust security measures.
Key Responsibilities • Implement and manage key technical controls, including SIEM, EDR, honeypots, vulnerability scanning, and email security tools.
• Conduct regular security assessments, penetration testing, and vulnerability scans to identify and address risks.
• Support security operations by monitoring, triaging, and responding to daily threats and incidents, such as phishing attempts.
• Collaborate with the Security Architect and Operations Lead to ensure compliance with internal policies and external standards.
• Maintain and update the security risk register, tracking and supporting remediation efforts across teams.
• Contribute to KPI/KRI reporting to governance forums and senior stakeholders.
• Lead or support technical aspects of internal and external audits.
• Represent the security function in IT and business projects, ensuring secure design and implementation.
• Work cross-functionally to embed security throughout change and service delivery processes.
• Support alignment with regulatory frameworks including DORA and other operational resilience standards.
• Assist in vendor assessments and reviews, contributing to third-party risk management.
• Help deliver continuous improvement initiatives and support the evolution of the security strategy.
Qualifications and Experience • 3–5 years' experience in a hands-on security engineering role within a complex IT environment.
• Strong experience with security technologies such as SIEM, EDR, vulnerability management, Microsoft Defender, M365, and Azure security tools.
• Proven experience supporting or leading audits and remediating security findings.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to operational resilience and digital risk.
• Background in regulated sectors such as financial services is highly desirable.
• Proficient in collaborating with IT, risk, GRC, and operations teams.
• Experience in incident response, including containment and recovery under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex issues for non-technical audiences.
• Proactive, detail-oriented, and able to manage priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Confident in stakeholder engagement and influencing outcomes across technical and business teams.
Preferred • Certifications such as CISSP, GSEC, GIAC, or vendor-specific credentials.
• Experience working with threat intelligence platforms and third-party security services.
• Knowledge of DORA and its practical application within IT security operations.
