Our client is seeking an experienced Unified Communications Engineer to take ownership of critical components within their global telephony and collaboration platforms. This role will serve as the technical authority for a suite of enterprise collaboration tools, acting as the go-to escalation point for complex technical issues, and ensuring the stability, compliance, and security of core communication systems.
The position plays a central role in delivering both operational excellence and strategic projects across EMEA and North America. You will work closely with architects and engineering peers to introduce new technologies, manage lifecycle upgrades, and establish global standards.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and support enterprise-scale unified communications services, including Cisco Unified Communications Manager, Webex Collaboration Suite, Microsoft Teams, and Zoom.
Oversee integration between Cisco UC systems and Microsoft Teams.
Proactively monitor systems, respond to alerts, and take corrective actions to maintain service levels.
Lead the planning and implementation of system upgrades, new features, and security patches in alignment with compliance requirements.
Develop and maintain accurate technical documentation reflecting the live environment.
Contribute to the creation of global unified communications standards and best practices.
Manage hardware and software lifecycles to avoid end-of-life or unsupported system risks.
Provide technical escalation support, including occasional out-of-hours response.
Mentor junior engineers and share subject matter expertise across teams.
Collaborate with architecture and vendor teams to assess and deliver both tactical improvements and long-term solutions.
Required Skills and Experience
Proven expertise in engineering and managing Cisco Unified Communications platforms.
Experience with Microsoft Teams calling, meetings, and video conferencing.
Solid knowledge of the Zoom Enterprise product suite.
Understanding of complementary UC applications such as voicemail systems, call logging, and compliant call recording.
Skilled in VoIP protocols (SIP, H.323) and technologies including CUCM, Cisco Expressway, CUBE, Session Border Controllers, and telecom carrier integration.
Competent in Cisco networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS) and storage concepts (block and file protocols).
Experience working in highly regulated or financial services environments.
Familiarity with backup solutions in virtualised environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Microsoft MS-700, MS-720, or MS-740 certifications.
Cisco CCNA or higher.
