Role Overview
As the Resident Engineer (Mechanical & Electrical), you will act as the client's on-site technical representative.
Your role involves conducting inspections, managing walkdowns, and ensuring that any engineering issues identified during execution are clearly communicated to the design and construction teams for prompt resolution.
You will ensure installations align with project specifications, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Perform daily site inspections and system walkdowns for both mechanical and electrical installations.
Identify and record deviations, deficiencies, or quality issues—initiating swift communication with internal and external teams for resolution.
Liaise with design, construction, and commissioning teams to ensure real-time decision-making on identified issues.
Provide technical oversight to confirm that work complies with drawings, specifications, and applicable standards.
Maintain a visible presence on site as the owner's engineering representative.
Review and validate red-line drawings, cable schedules, P&IDs, and ensure "as-built" accuracy.
Participate in QA/QC review processes, ensuring equipment and systems are installed and tested correctly.
· Monitor contractor performance and adherence to safety, quality, and schedule targets.
Generate daily or weekly reports on construction progress, open issues, and site observations.
Assist in turnover and handover processes including review of O&M manuals, test certifications, and final punch list clearance.
Key Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering.
Minimum 5 years' experience in a site-based engineering role in construction or commissioning.
Familiarity with regulated environments such as pharmaceutical or industrial manufacturing preferred.
Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, and QA documentation.
Excellent problem-solving skills and decision-making ability under pressure.
Confident communicator who can interface effectively with contractors, consultants, and client stakeholders.
Deep understanding of health, safety, and environmental requirements on active construction sites.
Proficient in MS Office; familiarity with inspection management software a plus.
