Occupational Therapist Job Opportunity

This is a maternity leave contract with potential to extend to full-time permanent.

Nua Healthcare Services provides residential and supported living services for children and adults with complex support needs, offering continuous professional development and education assistance.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Clinical Work: Manage a caseload of children and adults residing in Nua Healthcare providing assessment, intervention, and evaluation of treatment programmes across self-care, leisure, and productive occupations.
2. Interdisciplinary Working: Engage in working with members of the clinical team including Consultant Psychiatrists, Behaviour Specialists, Nurses, Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Social Care Workers, and Assistance Support Workers to meet the person-centred needs of service users on your caseload.

Additional Requirements:

1. Postural Support Needs: Carry out reviews of service users' postural support needs and complete basic and complex seating assessments as required.
2. Sensory Processing Difficulties: Complete assessments of service users' sensory processing difficulties and advise on strategies to best support their sensory processing needs.
3. Transition Planning: Support service users transition back into the home after being hospitalised as required.
4. Promoting Engagement: Promote purposeful engagement in self-care, leisure, and productive pursuits for all age profiles with due regard for the individual's abilities and preferences.
5. Improving Safety and Independence: Work with service users and staff to assist in improving service users' safety and independence in activities of daily living and instrumental activities of daily living.
6. Evidenced-Based Group Therapy Programs: Facilitate evidenced-based group therapy programs in line with the assessed needs of the service users.
7. Detailed Reports: Complete detailed reports for internal/external stakeholders and ensure the quality of documentation of all assessments, treatment plans, progress notes, and reports are in accordance with Nua Healthcare policy and professional standards.
8. Key Stakeholder Support: Provide support to key stakeholders for carry over of Occupational Therapy recommendations.
9. Advice to Schools: Advise schools on how best to support service users' sensory or learning needs.
10. Multidisciplinary Meetings: Attend and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, clinical department meetings, and occupational therapy department meetings.
11. Ott Student Supervision: Direct and supervise Occupational Therapy students.
12. Professional Conduct: Demonstrate professional conduct and behaviour by adhering to legal, ethical, and professional practice standards in all aspects of practice.
13. File Management: Maintain files and records on service users in accordance with the records policy.
14. Education and Training: Complete any mandatory trainings assigned through Nua Healthcare's Learning Management System.
15. Quality Improvement: Participate in the annual Occupational Therapy Department Strategic Planning meetings and support the attainment of strategic goals.
16. Sharing Knowledge: Contribute to the sharing of knowledge and best practice both within the Occupational Therapy Department and wider Nua Healthcare Service.
17. Nua Healthcare Promotion: Promote the Nua Healthcare Occupational Therapy Department at both a local and national level.
18. Health and Safety: Promote a safe working environment in accordance with Health and Safety legislation.
