The Planning Director will play a crucial role in the project management team, supporting multi-disciplined and multi-sector project delivery work. Key responsibilities include facilitating planning, scheduling, and controlling processes, as well as providing advice and support to key management teams.

Job Description

* Project Management Support: Facilitate the planning, scheduling, and controlling processes for multi-disciplined and multi-sector project delivery work.
* Advice and Support: Provide advice and support to key management teams, including senior planners and risk managers.


Key Functions of the Planning Director:

* High-Quality Service: Provide a high-quality service to project managers, including managing, mentoring, and guiding junior planners as required.
* Contract Review: Review contract documentation and highlight key schedule and tracking requirements.
* Schedule Development: Develop construction schedules based on high-level target schedules and WBS received from project managers.
* Labor and Metrics Load: Load labor and metrics into schedules based on hours and quantities received from commercial teams.
* Tracker Development: Develop required trackers and reporting templates.
* Schedule Integration: Develop fully integrated construction schedules in conjunction with main contractors and project managers.
* Progress Measurement: Measure and track weekly progress and efficiency in consultation with site teams and validate this formally with commercial teams every 2-3 weeks.
* Risk Identification: Highlight potential risks and roadblocks to project teams and lead planners on an ongoing basis.


Responsibilities of the Planning Director:

* Business Unit Support: Be the point of contact for project managers for all project-related planning issues.
* Bid Support: Develop schedules and histograms for bid support as required by lead planners.
* Programme Co-ordination: Support the implementation of planning processes and review contract documentation concerning schedule and reporting requirements.
* Validation: Validate high-level target schedules as received from PMs, considering current emerging IFC project information.
* Schedule Optimisation: Optimize build schedules and develop pinch-point registers identifying where we are not in agreement with main contractors/CMT schedules.
* Labour Load: High-level labour load target schedules to be completed and S-curves to be produced.
* Schedule Negotiation: Submit schedules and S-curves (and all subsequent schedules) for review and approval to lead planners and negotiate strategy to deal with main contractor schedule risk influence favourable outcome to KGE.


Required Skills and Qualifications:

* Qualification: A third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or strong trades background coupled with technical ability may be considered.
* Experience: 8+ years' experience/demonstrate ability to develop and implement plans, monitor, and control work.
* Planning Software: Microsoft Project/P6 or equivalent planning software, Microsoft Office tools – Excellent report writing skills.
