Senior Groundworks Civil Engineer

About the Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Groundworks Civil Engineer to lead and coordinate all groundworks activities on a major data centre construction project in Germany. This is a critical site-based engineering leadership role, ideal for a civil engineering professional who thrives in technically complex environments and can deliver high-quality groundwork solutions on time and to spec.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide technical leadership and oversight for all groundworks activities on-site
* Manage and supervise groundworks teams and subcontractors to ensure smooth execution
* Oversee all stages of groundworks, including:
* Site preparation, excavation, and foundation construction
* Installation of all site services ducting (eg. Drainage, EL, Telecoms, Sprinklers etc.)
* Ensure all works adhere to construction drawings, specifications, and technical standards
* Collaborate closely with project managers, structural engineers, and other site stakeholders
* Enforce strong health & safety practices and lead site briefings/toolbox talks
* Maintain detailed site records and daily reporting to relevant stakeholders
* Troubleshoot technical and operational issues on-site to avoid delays
Preferred Experience
* Engineering leadership on data centres, critical infrastructure, or complex commercial builds
* Deep technical knowledge of civil groundworks and site infrastructure delivery
* Experience in high-spec, fast-paced international construction environments
* Familiarity with QA/QC systems, environmental compliance, and construction risk management
Requirements
* Minimum 5 years of experience in groundworks engineering or site supervision within civil engineering
* Degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or a related discipline (preferred)
* Proficient in reading technical drawings, specifications, and site layouts
* Strong computer skills for reporting, documentation, and site communication
* Fluent in English (spoken and written)
* Strong coordination, problem-solving, and leadership skills
* Eligible to work in Germany and available for full-time site-based work
* Valid safety and competency certifications (e.g., SCC, OSHA 30, ECS, or similar international standard)
