Radiotherapy RMO - UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre WaterfordLocation: UPMC Whitfield HospitalJob type: PermanentOverview of role:We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Resident Medical Officer to join our multidisciplinary team of Radiation Oncologists, Radiation Therapists, Medical Physicists and Clinical Nurse Specialists working within a busy outpatient radiotherapy service in the Southeast. This role will support the provision of medical services within the Department with the goal of providing high-quality patient care for our oncology patients. There will be opportunities to develop interests in all aspects of cancer care and training will be provided as required to progress in your role. Following the completion of our linac replacement programme in Spring 2024, the Department has moved to establish a stereotactic radiotherapy programme and clinical trial portfolio. This role will be based in the UPMC Hillman Cancer Centre, within UPMC Whitfield Hospital, Waterford, and would be ideal for doctors with an interest in Radiation Oncology. Prior experience in Oncology is desirable but not re Primary Duties and Responsibilities:Key Responsibilities:Provision of medical services according to best practice guidelinesProvision of clinical evaluation, careful communication, considered and collaborative decision making for the proper delivery of oncology services to our patientsProvision of an open, caring environment for all patients, where proper explanation of treatment approach, careful treatment delivery and appropriate follow-up is providedCommunicates to inpatient staff and referring physicians clinical and treatment related information as appropriateUtilize essential investigations as appropriateComplete patient assessment within a suitable time frameBe able to identify areas and situations where advice from other team members is necessaryConsolidated use of technology within the departmentProvide clinical cover for the Consultant Radiation Oncologists where appropriateMaintain all patient records accurately and completelyCompetent involvement in radiotherapy treatment planning including contouring, plan evaluation, electron mark-up and verification under supervisionMaintain up to date BLS/ACLS skills and participate in mandatory and recommended training programmes in accordance with organizational/professional requirementsMaintain and develop professional expertise and knowledge by actively engaging in continuing professional education and developmentCompetent clinical and interactive skills with patientsPrioritise and deliver to short deadlinesDemonstrate appropriate levels of professionalism in all aspects of work and behaviourMaintain strict confidentiality in compliance with UPMC GDPR Policies and ProceduresEngage in performance reviews as requiredHealth & Safety:Participate in clinical risk management, audit and research activitiesCompliance with legislation and EU directives on Radiation Safety, and adherence with Radiation Safety strategies within the Hillman Cancer CentresParticipation in quality initiatives e.g., JCI Accreditation, HIQA compliance, EPA compliance etcCurrent registration with the Irish Medical CouncilAppropriate undergraduate and postgraduate qualificationExperience working within multi-disciplinary teams.Effective team playerEffective communication skills.Organization and time management skills.Ambitious and diligentFlexible and adaptable approach to workAbility to practice safely and effectively fulfilling his/her professional responsibility within his/her scope of practice.Qualifications & Experience:Qualifications:Current registration with the Irish Medical Council Appropriate undergraduate and postgraduate qualificationExperience:Appropriate post-registration clinical experience as determined by the Clinical DirectorJob Specific Competencies and Knowledge:Acts in accordance with the vision, mission, and values of the company and in compliance with the corporate policies, JCI and HIQA quality standardsPersonal Competencies:Experience working within multi-disciplinary teamsEffective team playerAmbitious and diligentFlexible and adaptable approach to workEqual Opportunity Statement and BenefitsUPMC is an equal opportunity employer.
