Job Title:Transport Team LeadDepartment:LinehaulReports to:Transport ManagerAbout The CompanyDPD Ireland leads the field in next day parcel delivery throughout Ireland, with 37 regionally based collection and delivery depots and a state of the art central sorting hub in Athlone, Co. Westmeath.Purpose Of The RoleThe Transport Team Lead is a key role within this growing and developing operation. Main focus of the role is planning the transportation of parcels between the Hub, Depots and Customers in the most efficient way, analysing and manipulating the data available to enable the effective planning of resources. The successful candidate will report to the Transport Manager.Job ResponsibilitiesDeveloping and forecasting models to predict and analyse freight volumes, patterns and staff requirementsProject and schedule road drivers based on forecasted business levels.Maintain adequate staffing levels of qualified, experienced drivers.Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures in conjunction with union labour agreements in regard to staffing actionsEnsure continuous compliance to all transport regulations, including Tachographs, drivers hours, vehicle condition and reporting to managementCommunicate professionally, effectively and assertively with drivers and harness good working relationsPlan and assign loads to drivers (including route & journey time planning) and ensure all drivers are aware of their allocated job, giving full consideration to all health and safety regulationsSupervise loading, ensuring efficiency and safety, provide training and development as required, ensure trailers are loaded within allocated times for dispatch. Arrange linehaul transfers between depotsLeading and managing a team of drivers getting them best performance and costsDevelop succession plans for the teamCovering holidays and standing in for the Transport ManagerDeveloping themselves by promoting our company values in their day to day activitiesThe above list is not an exhaustive list of duties.
