We are hiring an Orthopaedic Registrar to a leading Hospital in Dublin.Ireland.
Responsibilities Act under the supervision of the Orthopaedic Consultant in the delivery of a comprehensive Orthopaedic service and provide ongoing support to Consultants in their clinical duties.
Assess, clerk, and manage patients presenting through the Emergency Department with orthopaedic conditions.
Attend and actively participate in daily ward rounds with the Orthopaedic team.
Review inpatients regularly in line with the consultant-led plan of care, promptly escalating and communicating any concerns or changes in patient condition.
Document clinical findings, assessments, and management plans clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner in the medical records.
Provide clinical cover for Operating Theatre duties as assigned.
Undertake pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient assessment, monitoring, and follow-up.
Request and interpret investigations as required, including radiology and laboratory tests, in accordance with hospital policy.
Discharge patients on consultant instruction and complete discharge summaries accurately and promptly.
Respond appropriately to adverse clinical events, including injuries, falls, sudden illness, or medical emergencies involving patients, visitors, or staff.
Contribute to quality improvement, risk management, audit, and policy development, ensuring the Orthopaedic service reflects best practice standards.
Assist in the teaching and supervision of medical students, junior colleagues, and relevant staff.
Participate in work-related projects and service development initiatives within the hospital.
Maintain a professional standard of conduct, ensuring patient care is optimised and the reputation of the hospital is upheld at all times.
Comply with all Hospital policies and procedures, including JCI standards, Code Blue, infection prevention and control, work hours, and overtime policies.
Adhere to Health Safety regulations, promoting safe working practices and a safe clinical environment.
Undertake any other duties as required, including providing assistance to medical colleagues across the hospital and acting as a clinical resource for junior staff.
Requirements MRCS or equivalent postgraduate qualification (essential).
Current Full Registration with the Irish Medical Council (essential).
Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) (desirable).
Minimum of one year's experience at Registrar level in an acute hospital setting (essential).
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (desirable).
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with patients, families, and colleagues.
