Job Description
We are seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist at Avery Dennison Medical, Longford, reporting to the Plant Manager. The key responsibilities include:
1. Implementing programs and developing facility-specific procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and company requirements.
2. Integrating company and facility-level EHS management systems to maintain compliance, environmental protection, and safe operating conditions.
3. Tracking and regularly reporting on the status of regulatory compliance and improvement initiatives.
4. Using structured process scorecards to measure and communicate safety and environmental performance, including leading results and indicators.
5. Maintaining relevant logs and records in governmental and corporate databases.
6. Coordinating and managing an effective accident prevention program.
7. Implementing education and training to support regulatory and business requirements.
8. Serving as the contractor-plant representative to ensure compliance with Process Safety Management (PSM) requirements from contractors.
9. Acting as a resource and coach to facility safety teams.
10. Investigating all releases, injuries, and near-misses.
11. Conducting periodic inspections of machinery, equipment, and working conditions to ensure safety and sanitary standards.
12. Driving continuous improvement and delivering results through behavioral-based processes.
Qualifications
* Minimum of 5 years of experience in EHS.
* Experience with complex EHS projects or assignments demonstrating results.
* Preferred but not required: Advanced professional EHS certification and experience with behavioral safety initiatives.
* Good knowledge of regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and programs.
* Strong project and problem resolution skills.
* Proficiency with computer systems such as Microsoft Office, Lotus Notes, and relevant software.
* Strategic thinking and strong leadership skills with excellent interpersonal communication.
* Effective coaching, facilitation, and training skills, with flexibility to support a 24/5 manufacturing schedule.
