Overview
There is currently one specified purpose & whole-time vacancy available for a Physiotherapist, Senior, Oncology in the Physiotherapy Department, Galway University Hospitals.
Galway University Hospitals (GUH) is a major academic teaching hospital with a expanding Physiotherapy Service. GUH physiotherapy department provides a wide range of acute and rehabilitation services across multiple specialty areas, including Oncology and Radiotherapy. The post holder will be based primarily at the UHG site, providing physiotherapy and Cancer rehabilitation for Oncology, Haematology and Radiotherapy services. The role includes leading and managing the Oncology/Radiotherapy-related Lymphoedema service in GUH. Services are provided for weekend and on call across acute respiratory and orthopaedics. We are an undergraduate student education site.

Responsibilities
* Provide physiotherapy care to oncology, haematology and radiotherapy patients with musculoskeletal, cardiopulmonary and functional impairments related to cancer and its treatment.
* Lead and manage the Oncology/Radiotherapy-related Lymphoedema service in GUH.
* Contribute to weekend and on-call service provision across acute respiratory and orthopaedics as required.
* Support undergraduate student education as part of GUH’s teaching site obligations.
Qualifications and experience
* Demonstrate evidence of depth and breadth of experience of recent working in acute Oncology/Radiotherapy/Haematology services with general knowledge and experience in Cancer Rehabilitation.
* Relevant CPD in the area of physiotherapy care and Oncology/Radiotherapy/Haematology.
* Training and clinical experience in Lymphoedema management.
* Recent relevant experience in the management of musculoskeletal complications arising from cancer surgery and radiotherapy.
* Awareness of the Health Service reform programmes.
* Understanding of the relevant National Clinical Care Programmes.
