Role Overview
Our clients are seeking an ambitious and high-performing R&D Tax Senior Manager to join its progressive and forward-thinking Tax Department.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the preparation and delivery of financial claims for R&D Tax Credits.
This includes working closely with clients to identify potentially qualifying expenditure and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and guidance.
The role also provides the opportunity to develop a strong understanding of government innovation incentives and their impact on businesses.
You will work collaboratively with colleagues up to Partner level, with significant direct client engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage members of the R&D Tax team, supporting their development, performance, and career progression.
Lead client meetings, building strong and trusted relationships with clients, intermediaries, and wider networks to identify further business opportunities.
Identify qualifying R&D projects and eligible expenditure through technical and financial discussions with clients.
Conduct technical and financial assessments and support the preparation of clear and concise summaries.
Review technical and financial analyses prepared by other team members, ensuring accuracy and quality.
Ensure all R&D claims comply with relevant tax legislation, regulations, and guidance.
Prepare R&D tax credit calculations and coordinate with internal and external tax teams to ensure accurate reflection in tax returns and computations.
Manage end-to-end delivery of R&D claims, including client liaison, internal coordination, and engagement with Revenue, ensuring deadlines are met and claims are optimised.
Contribute to the development of solutions for complex technical issues.
Maintain and continuously develop technical knowledge in relation to R&D tax incentives and related policy changes.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications
Strong expertise in R&D tax relief schemes, including claim preparation and quantification, with the ability to sign off technical reports and supporting documentation.
Proven experience managing multiple projects simultaneously within a client-facing professional services environment.
Experience working on R&D tax claims for both SMEs and large multinational organisations, with confidence engaging senior stakeholders such as CEOs, CFOs, and CTOs.
Demonstrated ability to train, supervise, and develop junior team members, providing coaching on R&D tax rules and documentation preparation.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, non-technical language.
Proactive approach to business development and identifying new work opportunities within the R&D tax space.
Ability to produce technical and marketing content to support internal capability building and external thought leadership on innovation tax incentives.
Strong commercial awareness and ability to apply it in a client service environment.
