Job Description

The role of a Social Care Worker is to provide high-quality care and support to children and young people living in residential care. This involves delivering trauma-informed, person-centred care that promotes safety, wellbeing, independence and positive outcomes.

As a Social Care Worker, you will contribute to safe, nurturing environments where children feel valued, empowered and supported. You will work with children across both mainstream and disability/intellectual disability settings, supporting their daily routines, education, self-care and independent living skills.

Key responsibilities include building trusting relationships with children, supporting emotional regulation and resilience building, and responding effectively to crises using approved de-escalation methods.

You will also be responsible for implementing individual care plans, placement plans, communication supports and behaviour support strategies. This includes promoting independence and social inclusion tailored to each child's developmental level and abilities.

Additional responsibilities include providing personal care, assisting with mobility or specialist equipment when supporting children with disabilities, and adhering to Children First, organisational safeguarding procedures and all relevant legislation.

Required Skills and Qualifications

* Essential: Level 7 or 8 qualification in Social Care or equivalent recognised for CORU registration.
* Knowledge of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, child development and rights-based care.
* Understanding of supporting children in mainstream or disability settings.
* Excellent communication, interpersonal and report-writing skills.

Benefits

This role offers a competitive salary based on experience and qualification level, incremental increases available within organisational pay structures. You will also receive enhanced rates for nights, weekends and sleepover duties (organisation-dependent). Additionally, you will have access to comprehensive induction and ongoing training, including mandatory and specialist skills.

Why Work with Us?

Our team provides a supportive multidisciplinary work environment, with opportunities for career progression to Team Lead, PIC and senior roles. You will also have access to our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) and well-being supports.
