Meet the team

The Video Product team is responsible for ensuring that all content is optimally commissioned, created, packaged, curated, and published to our products, including RTÉ Player and RTÉ's YouTube channels, across multiple platforms and devices, from mobile, to desktop and Big Screen TVs.

We are looking for an experienced Video Content Curator with a deep understanding of the competitive streaming and TV market and expertise in delivering digital content experiences across multiple platforms and devices.

Reporting to the Video Product Manager, the Video Content Curator will be a TV enthusiast with a passion for Irish TV and culture and has a strong interest in global streaming and entertainment trends. You will be part of a team of curators and multimedia co-ordinators working closely with colleagues within RTÉ to support the delivery of RTÉ Player content and KPIs. The successful candidate will work within a dynamic, fast-paced environment, collaborating with stakeholders from across the business including technology, design, UX, marketing, audience insights and commercial.

About the role:

* Develop the RTÉ Player curation strategy with a focus on growth for connected TV platforms (e.g., Smart TVs, Apple TV, third party platforms)
* Maintain an online editorial calendar for RTÉ Player
* Tailor the homepage ensuring it reflects the national conversation at all times
* Prioritise content on big screen, curating for the lean-back experience, optimising navigation and user journeys
* Combine personalised recommendations with curated editorial content to deliver variety, serendipity and discovery
* Coordinate with the Mobile Curator and Discovery Lead to ensure alignment with overall platform strategy (mobile, TV, Web)
* Write sharp, engaging copy for hero placements, rails, and promotional spots that resonate in the living room environment
* Work closely with content planner to plan, prioritise and promote content priorities including box sets
* Introduce new content curation tools, innovation, and techniques to enhance output
* Collaborate with UX, Product, and Design teams to enhance imagery workflows, rail strategies, and navigation
* Use analytics to track performance of curated placements. Monitor KPIs (streams, time spent, completion rates, device splits) and iterate strategy accordingly

* Work with the Discovery Lead to ensure recommended content is surfaced effectively and balanced with curated collections

* Work with Marketing, Communications, and Partnerships teams to ensure alignment with the RTÉ Player brand, editorial guidelines and TOV across all touchpoints
* Oversee Product key art series imagery ensuring it meets RTÉ Player product specs effectively

About you:

* Minimum of 3 years' experience in content curation, editorial, or digital publishing (preferably in video/VOD/streaming
* Third-level qualification in Multimedia, Journalism, Communications, or a related discipline, with proven experience applying these skills in a professional setting
* Demonstrable experience with copywriting and managing content calendars with ability to adapt tone for different genres and audiences
* Evidence of a strong analytical mindset who can show examples of how you've data to lead to growth
* Proven understanding of cross-platform editorial strategy and audience behaviour and how audience behaviours differ across big screen, mobile, and web
* Excellent attention to detail in imagery, metadata, and compliance
* Visual - recognises that audiences will discover new content through excellent user experience (UX) and beautiful graphics
* Highly organised, with the ability to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines

Nice to have:

* Experience using content management systems, e.g. Wordpress
* Familiarity with connected TV and big screen user experiences, navigation patterns, and limitations
* Awareness of digital rights landscape
* Familiarity with metadata standards (Gracenote, EIDR, etc.)

This appointment will be made at the Multimedia Co-ordinator grade and is being offered on an ongoing full-time contract basis. The salary scale for this grade is from €46,832 to €61,163 gross per annum.
