Overview
Project Engineer (Mechanical) at Veolia Ireland. Location: Kilkenny Head Office. Duration: Permanent. Work Hours/Schedule: Role will be a mix of office/site-based and work-from-home; Monday to Friday.
Due to growth across the Water division, Veolia is seeking an enthusiastic Project Engineer to join the Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) Team. The successful candidate will work on a wide scope of water and wastewater treatment projects across the Island of Ireland, coordinating a multi-disciplined team (process/mechanical/civil/structural/electrical) involved in Water and Wastewater Treatment projects nationwide.
The Project Engineer will assist in the design and development of contracts from early design through to delivery, preparing delivery documentation for client submissions, managing sub-consultants, and coordinating health & safety documentation, detailed design packages, tendering documentation and construction design packages. During delivery, the Project Engineer will liaise with design teams and suppliers, manage subcontractors and commissioning teams to ensure projects are delivered on schedule and within budget.
Day to Day Responsibilities
* Take ownership of delegated projects and project issues
* Ensure thorough knowledge and understanding of the contract for all assigned projects
* Evaluate client specifications and liaise with clients and client representatives
* Communicate with the Project Manager, Design Leads and Sub-Consultants during the project execution
* Collaborate with a multi-disciplined engineering team on final design, equipment selection and procurement
* Organise, co-ordinate and manage design activities while maintaining health & safety in line with Veolia standards
* Manage project aspects within defined budgets and timelines, monitoring adherence to the project brief and programme
* Apply procedures related to contract execution
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Minimum NFQ Level 7 degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred) and/or Science discipline
* Practical site experience (desirable)
* Experience as part of a project team from initial stages to delivery
* Experience in coordinating design/site activities
* Ability to work on own initiative and effectively coordinate design/site activities
* Experience in water/wastewater engineering projects (desirable)
* IT skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint
* Good organisational and time management skills
* Self-motivated with strong communication and writing skills
