About the Role
We are looking for a Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) with strong experience in Apache Kafka. You will design, build, and maintain resilient, event-driven systems, automate processes, and manage cloud infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
* Operate and manage Apache Kafka: configure topics, manage partitions, monitor metrics, troubleshoot issues.
* Work with other messaging platforms such as NATS or MQ as needed.
* Build automation scripts and integrations using Python, Go, Java, or Bash.
* Manage Linux/Unix systems and cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, Azure) with IaC tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
* Implement observability (Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk, Datadog) and maintain CI/CD pipelines.
* Apply security best practices and compliance standards (SOC 2, GDPR).
Qualifications:
* 4–8 years of hands‑on experience in software development, SRE, or systems administration.
* Strong knowledge of Kafka architecture, including brokers, topics, partitions, and replicas.
* Experience with Kafka security, including SSL, SASL, and ACLs.
* Proficiency in configuring, deploying, and managing Kafka clusters in cloud and on‑premises environments.
* Experience with Kafka stream processing using tools like Kafka Streams, KSQL, or Apache Flink.
* Solid understanding of distributed systems, data streaming, and messaging patterns.
* Proficiency in Java, Scala, or Python for Kafka‑related development tasks.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging.
* Experience with tools like Zookeeper, Schema Registry, and Kafka Connect.
* Strong problem‑solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a distributed environment.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross‑functional teams and stakeholders.
Eligibility Criteria:
* Must be based in Ireland or have a valid work permit for Dublin.
