BGS Commercial Modifications Engineering Europe are looking for a Principal Engineer to join our Structures Engineering Team. The Principal Structures Engineer plays a critical leadership role within the Engineering team, providing technical authority and strategic guidance to both the Engineering Management team and the wider group. This role focuses on driving technical excellence, leading complex projects, creating and driving initiatives that enhance team efficiency and quality, and is a senior point of expertise for the structural elements of cabin interior modification programmes. The Principal Structures Engineer acts as a key point of escalation for technical issues, mentors engineers at all levels, and collaborates across disciplines to shape the technical direction, quality, and safety standards of the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Report to the Structures Engineering Manager and work alongside the Engineering Management team, providing expert guidance on strategic and operational engineering matters within the Cabin Interiors Structures team.
Lead requiring advanced technical expertise and cross‑functional coordination.
Drive and lead initiatives aimed at improving team efficiency, processes, and engineering standards.
Chair and lead to ensure rigorous technical scrutiny and decision‑making.
Identify, develop, and implement to establish and maintain a gold standard of engineering excellence.
Serve as the expert for interior modification structures topics.
Mentor and coach junior and experienced engineers, fostering technical growth and leadership development within the team.
Collaborate with other Principal Engineers across engineering disciplines to align on standards.
Maintain and demonstrate expertise in interior modifications relating to structures, staying current with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
Support the Engineering Management team in defining and executing the Structures discipline.
Promote a culture of collaboration throughout the engineering organization.
Act as Boeing representative during customer meetings such as ITCM, PDR, CDR and FAI in support of active and up‑coming projects. Provide additional on‑site support to assist customers during the embodiment phase of the project.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree within Aerospace/Aeronautical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
Skills and Experience
Proven experience serving as a Compliance Verification Engineer (CVE) within a Design Organization Approval (DOA) environment is essential.
Recognised subject matter expert (SME) in the structural assessment of aircraft interior modifications is essential.
Demonstrated ability to lead complex engineering projects and technical initiatives.
Strong experience in technical authority roles, including managing escalations and leading Technical Review Boards.
Excellent mentoring and coaching skills, with a passion for developing engineering talent.
Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple engineering disciplines and influence senior stakeholders.
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development, with evidence of ongoing technical and leadership growth.
Strong problem‑solving skills, strategic thinking, and the ability to drive innovation and process improvements.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex technical information clearly.
Able to demonstrate a comprehensive working knowledge of EASA regulatory and airworthiness requirements including (E)TSO, CS‑25, JAR‑25 and FAR 25 requirements (relevant to the stress/structures discipline).
A high level of attention to detail and professional integrity.
Ability to prioritise workloads and show flexibility to changing situations or demands.

Work Authorisation
This requisition is for a locally hired position in the UK/Ireland. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the United Kingdom. Boeing will not attempt to obtain immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.
