The Software Engineer II will hold responsibility in our technical functions to advance existing technology or introduce new technology and therapies. Formulates, delivers and/or manages projects assigned and works with other stakeholders to achieve desired results. May act as a mentor to colleagues or may direct the work of other lower level professionals. Most of the time is spent delivering R&D, systems or initiatives related to new technologies or therapies – from design to implementation – while adhering to policies, using specialized knowledge and skills.
A Day in The Life Of:
Designs, develops, tests, debugs and implements operating systems components, software tools and utilities.
Determines systems software design requirements.
Supports the validation of new equipment software and maintains backup/recovery programs.
Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
Diagnoses software and program issues on Automation and Equipment.
Keeps up to date with industrial software changes and retains annual licenses to work on all equipment on site.
Communicates with vendors on troubleshooting issues and trains colleagues on the necessary software / program upgrades.
Prepares procedures and stays up to date with quality system changes affecting automation and equipment software.
Works across a variety of software lifecycle activities as determined by program needs.
Key Skills & Experience
Bachelor’s degree and minimum of 5 years of relevant Industrial experience or master’s degree with a minimum of 4 years relevant experience.
Troubleshooting experience in multiple automation systems including PLC’s, HMI’s, Robotics, Vision, Drives and other common control and Mechatronic systems.
Experience with the following systems would be an advantage.
Allen Bradley, Siemens, Mitsubishi, Omron and other common industrial PLC’s and HMI control systems
Robotics programming experience with Staubli, Kuka, Fanuc, Universal and other common industrial robots
Vision Systems such as Cognex, Omron, Keyence and other common industrial vision systems
Benefits & Compensation
Medtronic offers a competitive salary and flexible Benefits Package. Pay range: Ireland: 51,280.00 EUR – 76,920.00 EUR. This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
