Software Development Engineer, Actuation Service, Shopping AI
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer II to join our Shopping Platform team, focusing on critical actuation service that powers Amazon's agentic shopping experiences.
You'll work on high-scale distributed systems that enable seamless shopping endpoints and multi-agent frameworks, directly impacting millions of customers worldwide.
Key Responsibilities
Build critical actuation infrastructure that executes shopping actions across diverse websites.
Create the execution layer that turns AI agent decisions into real shopping actions.
Design and implement scalable actuation services that execute shopping workflows—such as building new cart management APIs, optimizing checkout flows, and improving purchase success rates.
Collaborate with Applied Scientists to understand AI agent behaviors, with the Payments team to integrate secure transaction flows, and with UI teams to ensure seamless customer experiences.
Partner with Product Managers to prioritize brand integrations and shopping flows.
Build secure payment and authentication systems that handle sensitive customer data while enabling automated transactions with strict privacy and security controls.
Basic Qualifications
3+ years of professional software development experience.
2+ years of experience in design or architecture of new and existing systems.
Experience programming with at least one software programming language.
Preferred Qualifications
3+ years of full software development life cycle experience, including coding standards, code reviews, source control, build processes, testing, and operations.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
Experience debugging, profiling, and implementing best software engineering practices in large-scale systems.
