Physiotherapy Assistant
The Physiotherapy Assistant will support the ICPOP team in delivering early supported discharge and rehabilitation for older adults transitioning from acute to community-based care in Naas. This role involves assisting qualified physiotherapists in implementing rehabilitation plans, promoting patient independence, and improving functional outcomes in both hospital and community settings.
Key Responsibilities of Physiotherapy Assistant
* Assist physiotherapists in delivering individual or group rehab sessions (mobility, strength, balance, falls prevention).
* Support patients in following home exercise programs.
* Provide feedback on patient progress to the supervising physiotherapist.
* Support safe transfers, mobility training, and use of mobility aids.
* Monitor stock and maintain cleanliness of physiotherapy equipment.
* Assist with documentation and data entry under supervision.
* Participate in team meetings, audits, and service improvement projects.
* Comply with infection prevention and control, health and safety, and confidentiality standards.
Requirements of Physiotherapy Assistant
* FETAC Level 5 Health Service Skills or equivalent qualification (essential).
* Previous experience working with older people or in a healthcare setting (desirable).
* Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Commitment to person-centred care and rehabilitation.
Desirable Attributes:
* Experience in a physiotherapy or rehabilitation setting.
* Familiarity with ICPOP or integrated care models.
* Confidence using mobility aids and rehab equipment.
