Role Description
Are you an experienced Hydrogeologist ready to make an impact on Ireland’s most pressing environmental challenges? Join our growing Water team, where you will be at the forefront of projects addressing everything from climate change adaptation to public housing initiatives. The role requires travel across Ireland and occasional overnight stays.
Responsibilities
 * Scope, cost, plan and manage hydrological and hydrogeological field programmes, including environmental sampling and monitoring.
 * Prepare contract documents for site investigations (e.g., technical specifications and bills of quantities).
 * Supervise drilling operations, well installations, and hydraulic testing.
 * Process, manage, and interpret hydrogeological data (incl. environmental monitoring data).
 * Contribute to high‑quality reporting, using innovative means of communication and sharing.
 * Liaise with clients, subcontractors and colleagues to support efficient project execution.
 * Support and advise other MKO teams (e.g., ecologists, environmental scientists).
 * Contribute to proposals and marketing activity, in collaboration with colleagues.
 * Champion health and safety guidelines and regulations.
What We’re Looking For
 * MSc degree in Hydrogeology or a related science (coursework and experience considered).
 * 4‑7 years of practical experience as a field hydrogeologist, with duties aligned with the responsibilities above.
 * Familiarity with Water Framework Directive requirements, EPA codes of practice, and contaminated land management.
 * Experience processing, screening, and analysing soils, groundwater, and surface water chemistry data.
 * Demonstrated knowledge of geochemical and hydrochemical processes.
 * User‑level GIS experience.
 * Excellent spoken and written English, with strong interpersonal communication skills.
Ideally, You Will Also Possess
 * Fluency in MS Office (Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
 * Familiarity with AutoCAD.
 * Familiarity with AI technology and tools.
 * Experience with Python and R scripting for statistical analyses, trend analyses, and workflow automation.
 * Prior experience in detailed quantitative risk assessments, karst environments, and flood risk assessments.
