Due to continued growth and expansion within our Building & Infrastructure Division, TOBIN is excited to offer a permanent opportunity for a Civil Design Engineer to join our team in our Galway Office.
The position requires a minimum Level 8 Honours Degree qualification in Civil/Structural Engineering (or an equivalent qualification) and typically applies to candidates with between 3 and 6 years of experience depending on the knowledge and skills gained throughout their career to date.
Duties & Responsibilities
Where directed by the Project Manager, liaise with clients to deliver the required designs.
Review documents and designs prepared by graduate engineers.
Prepare and review preliminary designs and reports using a variety of computer packages and subsequently prepare detailed design drawings and specifications.
Procure site investigation, building and civil engineering contracts.
Assist project managers in preparing tender documents and assessments.
Administer construction contracts to ensure that design requirements, project schedules and budgets are achieved.
Follow instruction from line managers and, where appropriate, relevant project managers and senior team members.
The Skills Required of a Design Engineer
Excellent written and verbal (English) communication and interpersonal skills.
Proficient in Auto CAD 2 D with an aptitude for developing skills in Auto CAD 3 D and Building Information Modelling (e.g., Auto Desk REVIT).
Capability to use other software packages such as Micro Drainage, Microsoft Access, and GIS tools such as Arc GIS and Map Info.
Working knowledge of construction contracts such as the PWMF Forms of Contract.
Working knowledge of software packages such as Microsoft Project, Micro Drainage, and other similar tools needed to fulfil day‑to‑day tasks.
