Hospital Group Details
HSE South / South West Hospital Group:
The South/ South West Hospital Group (S/SWHG) is responsible for acute hospital care for the population across Cork and Kerry. It comprises:
* Bantry General Hospital (BGH)
* Cork University Hospital (CUH)
* Cork University Maternity Hospital (CUMH)
* Mallow General Hospital (MGH)
* University Hospital Kerry (UHK)
* Mercy University Hospital (MUH) - Voluntary Hospital
* South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital (SIVUH) - Voluntary Hospital
The voluntary hospitals are funded by the HSE as Section 38 agencies under the Health Act 2004.
The primary academic partner for the Group is University College Cork (UCC), which, along with Cork's Higher Education Institute of Technology, plays a key role in developing academic teaching, research, and innovation to improve health outcomes in the S/SWHG.
