Offer Description
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Politics and International Relations.
University College Dublin is currently recruiting a researcher to implement natural language processing (NLP) tools on interview data.
The research assistant will support the development of tools to identify and analyse cognitive maps (Axelrod 1976) from interview data. Dornschneider and Henderson (2016, 2023) and Dornschneider (2019) have developed tools for the computational analysis of cognitive maps. The project requires developing tools to infer cognitive maps from natural language.
This Irish Research Council funded project investigates the role of women in Muslim resistance movements. The cognitive mapping analysis aims to:
1. Show typical behavioral decisions (e.g., to join a resistance movement) described by interviewees;
2. Identify common reasoning processes related to these decisions;
3. Trace the role of religious beliefs in these reasoning processes.
Fixed Salary: €32,962 Per Annum
Closing date: 12:00 noon (Irish local time) on 22nd May 2025.
Applications must be submitted by the specified deadline. Late applications will be automatically rejected. UCD does not accept applications via recruitment agencies.
