In addition, The Shannon Airport Group owns and manages a large commercial property portfolio of office blocks and a range of industrial, advanced manufacturing and aviation facilities in the region.Reporting to the Airport Director, the Deputy Airport Director position is a senior leadership position in the Airport’s management team. The job holder will have responsibility for the day-to-day operational functions in the Airport which will include Airport Operations, Police & Fire, Airport Security and Airport Engineering.Role PurposeThe Deputy Airport Director supports the Airport Director in managing and overseeing all aspects of airport operations, administration and strategic development. This role ensures compliance with aviation regulations, promotes operational efficiency and drives initiatives to enhance passenger experience and airport performance. The Deputy Airport Director will assume further leadership responsibilities in the absence of the Airport Director.Key responsibilities (below) include Strategic Planning and Coordination, Operational Oversight, Technology & Innovation, Stakeholder Engagement and Leadership and Management.Key Areas of ResponsibilityPrime responsibilities include:Deputise for the Airport Director in their absence.Overall management of airport operations including ensure a safe, secure, efficient and customer focused airport operation.Leading a team of 150+ in the day to day running of the airport including direct reports managing key operational areas.Oversee compliance with relevant Airport operational, security, safety, environmental, planning to national and international regulations.Develop and manage KPI reporting to ensure delivery of operational goals.Managing and enhancing the customer experience.Manage the business relationships with key airport-based stakeholders, e.g. airlines, ground handlers, FBO’s, State Services, concessionaires and others.Project manage various capital and operations projects (e.g. new technology).Drive innovation by delivering process improvements and automation to airport operations.Qualifications, Skills and ExperienceThe successful candidate will have 10+ years proven experience in various senior management roles ideally in the aviation industry or alternatively experience in FDA/EMA Approval Environment may also be considered.The successful candidate will have a minimum of Level 8 Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with a Master’s Degree or MBA desirable.Regulatory mindset – Working knowledge of EASA, ICAO and/or TSA regulations or working knowledge of FDA/EMA regulations.Financial acumen – managing budgets, procurement, reviewing tenders, solid understanding and ability to interpret a P&L.Strategic thinking – make positive contributions to the overall direction of the business.Adaptability – Ability to deal with all day-to-day eventualities of a complex, multi-stakeholder environment.Crisis and change management- must be able to adapt leadership style and approach to handle an evolving, growing organisation.Excellent communicator – an empathetic leader with an ability to lead and inspire a large team.Closing Date for applications is Friday 17th April 2026.Apply via Easy Apply above or feel free to get in touch with Barry Usher - Partner, Macro Recruitment.
