Job Title: Lead Mechanical EngineerRole DescriptionAZOROM has an ongoing contract with ESB and wishes to fill this present position.Turlough Hill is scheduled to complete its 5 Yearly Maintenance overhaul, which includes machine inspections, dewatering of the upper reservoir and penstock for inspections and required repairs. In addition to the standard 5 Yearly overhaul works there are significant maintenance and upgrade works scheduled for 2027, these works will feature but will not be limited to; Turlough Hill Unit 1 generator rotor pull and runner removal for repair, Turlough Hill Unit 2 generator rotor pull for electrical testing, Transformer refurbishment (including installation of new HV bushings and transformer oil coolers), C&I Upgrades (Unit controllers and common PLC along with various PLC's across the plant) and an extensive balance of plant scope (both electrical and mechanical). ESB are currently looking for a Lead Electrical to mobilise to the Turlough Hil site and respectively manage the key responsibilities which are listed below. The successful candidate will work within an ESB project team, supporting the project manager to delivery this important overhaul, on behalf of ESB.Key ResponsibilitiesWork with the Safety Adviser and other project team members to ensure that all works undertaken during the project are executed in accordance with statutory safety, health and environmental regulations and internal ESB Technical Standards & GuidelinesManagement of Main EPC Mechanical Contract and other Mechanical contracts / work scopes as assigned by the Project ManagerLiaison with EMP specialist team to successfully deliver overhaul in line with defined protocols and procedures.Support the implementation of Inspection & Test Plans for the Mechanical aspects of the unit, in conjunction with the appropriate Competent Person / Asset Management SpecialistManagement of quality in accordance with responsibilities listed in the Project Quality Plan.Day to day supervision and point of contact with contractors and their works. Review of key ITP protocol sheetsWork with and support the station Management and Maintenance Teams during the course of the projectUndertake regular safety, environment and quality audits during the overhaulReporting on progress against schedule and attendance at various project meetings as deemed appropriate by the Project ManagerWork with the Project Manager to control costs for assigned contractsManagement of special tooling requirements with the principle ContractorDevelopment of technical specifications for work scopes on Mechanical plant and equipment and involvement in various stages of tendering and procurement processUse of plant modification process for all Mechanical plant modifications. Ensure all Mechanical procedures and drawings are updatedUse of the ESB Contractor Management (CM) process to manage assigned contracts including use of CM tools to track contract progress and holding of Kick-Off, Progress, Close-Out meetings, etc.Attendance at Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs), workshop visits, if requiredCreation of Mechanical Close-Out ReportKnowledge, Skills and ExperienceEssentialExperience of planning major power station overhauls – including logistics, procurement, specifications development and contractor managementAbility to work and share knowledge and competencies within a team structureExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsFlexibility which is important in all aspects of the roleStrong report writing capabilityProficient computer skillsDesirableExperience in the overhaul of hydro power plantQualificationsEssentialExperience of Power plant mechanical plant, incl, Pumps, Motors and Valves etcWell versed with Health, Safety and Environment Standards and proceduresMinimum experience of 5 years (Post Qualification) in power generation industryDesirableEngineer level 8 qualification in Mechanical Engineering or related disciplineBase LocationESB's offices at Turlough Hill Power Station, Co. Wicklow.The successful candidate must work from the base location on a full-time basis.Work Input8:30 – 16:45, Monday to FridayAnticipated start dateASAPDuration12 months
