1. Develop and Implement Strategic Plans: Create a comprehensive strategy for electrical engineering across the organization, ensuring alignment with business objectives and local market needs.
2. Support Business Units: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to strengthen and grow their electrical engineering capabilities, driving operational efficiency and excellence.
3. Enhance Competencies: Identify and develop targeted skills and knowledge within electrical engineering, fostering innovation and best practices.
4. Safety and Efficiency: Define design activities and deliverables to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently, adhering to industry standards and regulations.
Digital Transformation:
As we continue to advance our digitalization efforts, your responsibilities will also include:
1. Strategy Development: Define and implement a continuous improvement strategy for electrical engineering, leveraging cutting-edge technologies and methodologies.
2. Platform Enhancement: Develop and improve our electrical engineering service delivery platform (SDP), aligning it with our quality management system (QMS) and industry benchmarks.
3. Standardized Processes: Establish a group-wide standardized way of working for electrical engineering, incorporating local code requirements and industry norms.
4. Innovation and Integration: Ensure seamless integration of digitally enabled lean design DeLPD, sector-specific approaches, and design office locations.
5. Business Transformation: Manage business transformation projects as an investment cost, allocating time and resources effectively.
Governance of Design Delivery:
To ensure successful project outcomes, you will:
1. Key Sales Proposals: Support the development of key sales proposals in collaboration with the director of engineering.
2. Watch List: Work with the director of engineering to establish a 'watch list' of high-risk challenging projects, focusing on design challenge and technical integrity risk.
3. Early Stage Influence: Influence the early stages of design on key projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives and project goals.
4. Single Discipline Reviews: Chair single discipline design reviews (SDDRs) on key projects, providing expert guidance and oversight.
5. Project Basis Safety: Review project basis of safety documents as required by the director of engineering.
6. Concept/BoD Reviews: Input to end of concept/BoD 'go, no-go' reviews for high-risk challenging projects, ensuring informed decision-making.
Troubleshooting:
As the first responder for critical issues regarding electrical engineering design, you will:
1. Critical Issues: Respond promptly to critical issues, meeting with senior members of both our own and the customer's team.
2. Agreed Actions: Agree corrective actions and way forward with stakeholders, ensuring timely resolution.
3. Technical Sponsorship: Act as technical sponsor for corrective actions, providing expert guidance and support.
4. Progress Updates: Keep PM Group management updated on correction action progress, ensuring transparency and accountability.
