Maintenance Technician - Shift (9 Month FTC)
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for developing and implementing efficient production processes that deliver consistent quality and maximise production volume.
The successful candidate will have a strong data-driven mindset, capable of analysing and troubleshooting existing processes to identify areas for improvement, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimise production and meet business goals.
To support extended operational coverage, this role operates on either four 10-hour evening/night shifts or a 12-hour rotating schedule (3/4 shifts per week).
Key Responsibilities
Work with the manufacturing team to manage and prioritise assignments, ensuring customer demand and the production schedule are met.
Ownership of preventative maintenance planning and execution.
Lead electrical and mechanical troubleshooting of equipment and process issues.
Catalogue, methodically and accurately, line performance and downtime issues to aid resolution measures and communicate critical downtime events, leading the resolution processes, including yield improvement.
Support product failure investigations as part of yield improvements.
Participate in project teams contributing to engineering, safety, quality and continuous improvement targets.
Ensure compliance with health & safety and legislative requirements, including wearing PPE and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and hygiene.
Maintain a high quality of record-keeping in compliance with company systems, including quality, safety, maintenance, compliance and production planning.
Train maintenance/engineering staff and/or relevant production operators in the correct use of process equipment and product specifications.
Perform other assigned tasks as directed by the Manager or Head of Function.
Education and Experience Required
Certificate or Diploma in an engineering or science discipline or similar relevant experience.
Minimum of three years' relevant experience in a maintenance role.
Minimum two years' experience in the medical device or regulated industries is a distinct advantage.
Strong electrical and mechanical troubleshooting ability.
Strong technical report-writing ability.
Key Skills
Technical experience sustaining and improving automated manufacturing processes.
Understanding of diagnostic/investigative tools for identification of material and component variation during failure investigation.
Strong problem-solving capability: conduct root-cause analysis and experiments applying problem-solving methodologies to develop potential solutions that achieve improvements.
Collaboration: effective communication and interpersonal skills; written, verbal and presentation for technical and non-technical audiences.
Experience in medical device manufacturing with knowledge of EN ISO *****:****, EU-MDR, MDSAP and FDA requirements as applicable.
Highly motivated self-starter capable of working in a dynamic environment with little supervision or daily direction.
