Job Title: Mental Health Specialist

As a Mental Health Specialist, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality therapeutic services to older adults experiencing psychiatric illnesses.
\
Your primary responsibilities will include conducting comprehensive assessments, developing personalized care plans, and delivering interventions to improve daily living skills, cognitive functioning, and social engagement.
\
You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, including psychiatrists, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to ensure integrated care and effective collaboration.
\
Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, including cognitive, physical, and psychosocial evaluations.
\
* Develop individualized care plans based on client needs, goals, and evidence-based practices.
\
* Deliver interventions to improve daily living skills, cognitive functioning, and social engagement.
\
* Promote client recovery through therapeutic activities, environmental adaptations, and caregiver support.
\
* Monitor and review treatment outcomes, adjusting interventions as necessary.
\
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to ensure integrated care.
\
* Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service planning discussions.
\
* Provide training and advice to families and caregivers on supporting clients in their home and community environments.
\
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in line with HSE standards.
\
* Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and professional guidelines, including data protection and confidentiality.
\
* Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols for mental health services.
\
* Participate in audits, research, and quality improvement initiatives.
\
* Engage in continuous professional development (CPD) to maintain knowledge and skills.
\
* Supervise and support students or junior occupational therapists, as required.
\
Qualifications:
\

* Degree in Occupational Therapy
\
* CORU registration
\
* Experience working with older adults in mental health or a related field
\
* Strong assessment and clinical reasoning skills
\
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including empathy and the ability to build rapport with clients and their families
\
* Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
\
* Strong organizational and time-management skills
\
