Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Resident Engineer to oversee the construction of a new build aircraft hangar. This is a full-time role for 14 months with an immediate start. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and IEI chartership, and extensive experience in structural steel buildings and civil works. Experience with similar large industrial units will be highly beneficial.

Primary Role:

The Resident Engineer's primary role is to ensure that the works are constructed as designed, approved, and instructed, and that the Contractor fulfills all their obligations under the contract. The appointed person shall be on-site or represented during all working hours of construction.

Responsibilities:

* Project Oversight:Ensure the works are constructed in accordance with the requirements and that the Contractor carries out all their obligations under the contract.
* Staff Supervision: Keep other site supervisory staff informed on matters which may influence their work.
* Documentation:Maintain a comprehensive diary constituting a detailed work history of construction work and significant happenings on the site. Ensure that detailed reports, diaries, and records (both hard and soft copies), including photographic records, are kept and available for inspection by authorized personnel.
* Quality Assurance:Ensure that all day work records and all variations from specifications are approved and documented prior to execution. Assist with the administration of various Works Contracts during the construction phase.
* Record Keeping: Keep records of all information relating to delays, industrial disputes, adverse physical conditions, and disputes with sub-contractors and landowners.
* Meetings:Attend regular site meetings with other necessary site supervisory staff as required, and ensure that proceedings are minuted for circulation to all relevant personnel.
* Health & Safety: Monitor health and safety policies and standards on the construction site, ensuring all activities comply with relevant legislation and regulations. Be aware at all times of the duties of contractors, subcontractors, and others under Safety, Health, and Welfare at Work legislation, including the provision of a safe place of work, safe access and egress, a safe system of work, safe plant and machinery, appropriate personal protective equipment, and arrangements for the welfare of employees.
* Communication:Maintain clear and effective communication with the employer’s representative, project manager, and other stakeholders, keeping them informed of all issues arising on site. Liaise with Local Authorities, DAA, statutory y undertakers, and any other stakeholders as required.
* Incident Reporting:Ensure all accidents or incidents on site are reported and assist with investigations and implementation of corrective and preventative actions.
* Additional Duties:Carry out such other duties as may be assigned from time to time by the Design Manager, or Senior Engineers.

The above specification is not intended to be a comprehensive list of all duties involved, and consequently, the post holder may be required to perform other duties as appropriate to the post which may be assigned to them from time to time and to contribute to the development of the post while in office.

Desirable Skills/Attributes:

* Chartered Engineer with IEI chartership.
* Extensive experience in structural steel buildings and civil works.
* Experience with large industrial units or similar type buildings.
* Knowledge and awareness of health and safety legislation and regulations.
* Enthusiastic, hardworking, and flexible.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
* Ability to work as part of a team and take responsibility for project delivery.
